Capacitance Level Transmitter
Description
Capacitance Level Meter is a measuring instrument that detects the material level inside a vessel by measuring changes in capacitance. Inside the vessel, a capacitor is formed by the electrode and the vessel wall made of conductive material.
For a given electrode, when the dielectric constant of the measured medium remains constant, a measuring voltage with fixed frequency is applied to the electrode. The electric current flowing through the capacitor depends on the height of the medium between the capacitor electrodes and is proportional to it.
Therefore, the capacitance level meter carries out level measurement based on capacitance variation. One basic requirement for level measurement with capacitance level meters is that the relative dielectric constant of the measured medium (the ratio of the dielectric constant of the medium to that of air) shall remain unchanged during measurement.
